“On-Orbit Demonstration of a PCM-Based Power Temperature Stabilization Device Using the Innovative Energy Technology Demonstration Satellite DENDEN-01” (P41)
Abstract
An on-orbit demonstration of a power temperature stabilization device utilizing a phase change material (PCM) was conducted aboard the Innovative Energy Technology Demonstration Satellite DENDEN-01. The device passively suppresses temperature fluctuations in the power subsystem by exploiting the latent heat associated with phase transitions. The flight-model device, specifically designed and manufactured for satellite applications, was operated in the actual space environment, and its thermal behavior and temperature stabilization performance were evaluated on orbit. This presentation reports the device configuration, integration design, and demonstration results based on telemetry data acquired during the mission.
